Crash claims driver’s life

An Eatonville man died after the pickup truck he was driving struck a tree Sunday on State Route 7.

The State Patrol identified the motorist as Douglas S. Chappel, 40.

According to troopers, Chappel was driving alone south on the highway when the vehicle left the roadway near Ohop Valley Road and collided with a tree. The cause for the accident remains under investigation.

    I am soo sorry to hear about Douglas, known him for many years my son and him were great friends since they were 16yrs old, joined the marines together and serve a tour in Saudi, will always remember him as our Doug, with a great his family and friends he will surely be miss

    My thoughts and prayers to Dougs family and friends, Doug will be missed, he was a great person full of love, he loved coaching basketball for my son’s team in 2001 ,he loved the kids and always went that extra mile to help them. Also a great golf instructer for us also, i know dougs up in heaven golfen everyday now, its what he loved to do! I wish i could be there to give Reah a hug and the family, i just want them to know their on my mind and i am truly sorry for their loss!
