Bethel’s Braves are one victory away from advancing to the 3A girls high school basketball regionals.
The Braves topped Shelton 51-37 Thursday in the opening round of the West Central District playoffs. They now have a second-round date Feb. 11 with Mountain View. The winner of that game, scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Olympia High, will be assured of finishing no worse than third or fourth in the district tourney, depending on the outcome of third-round games on Feb. 16.
The loser between Bethel and Mountain View will still have a chance to nab the district’s fifth and final spot in the regionals by winning twice in the consolation bracket.
Mountain View won its first-round game against Yelm 64-53.
