The Eatonville Cruiser girls’ basketball team joined the boys’ team to travel to Bend, Oregon, to compete in the Bend Holiday Tournament from Dec. 27 – 29, over the holiday break.

The Lady Cruisers dropped all three of their games played in Bend. They fell to Summit High School in a nail biter, 45-44. Madras High School was next and they took the win over the Cruisers with a score of 53 - 34. The Cruisers entered their third and final game of the tournament looking to head home with a win. La Salle High School had different plans. The Lady Cruisers handed the Cruisers their third loss of the trip, 81 - 39. Although they lost all three games, the girls all had a fun time bonding. They played in the moment and went ice-skating together in their downtime.

Looking to right the ship, the Lady Cruisers traveled to Elma to take on the No. 4 ranked in state Elma Eagles on Jan 2. The Lady Cruisers didn’t have any answers for the Eagles, who jumped out to a big lead and never look back. They Eagles soared to a 78 - 48 victory over the Lady Cruisers. Senior Peyton Hutchings led the Cruisers with 16 points.

On Friday, Jan. 4, the Cruisers had their eyes on ending their four-game skid, and nothing would get in their way. That included the Highline Pirates, who the Lady Cruisers took on in a league match up at Highline High School. The Cruisers took the lead and never look back.  They made the Pirates walk the plank with a 47 - 26 victory.  Freshman Kya Stewart led the Cruisers with 13 points.
