To ensure the health and safety of staff, students and surrounding community, the University of Washington's Pack Forest is closing to all visitors in observance of Gov. Jay Inslee’s “stay-at-home order.” It will reopen when the order is lifted. Cars parked on Pack Forest property will be towed, at the owner’s expense, by Eatonville Towing. This includes areas in front of the gate, the horse trailer parking area, and roadside parking off of Alder Cutoff Road.
The closure is also in response to a significant increase in Pack Forest Hikers, which not only contributes to the spread of COVID-19, it has been putting pressure on the trail system when staff's ability to maintain things is limited, according to announcement from UW staff.
