INDIAN SUMMER OCTOBER LUNCHEON

DOGWOOD GARDEN CLUB

The upcoming Dogwood Garden Club meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Cox Christmas Tree Farm, Eatonville. FREE BBQ

The Nisqually Community Forest will host a free barbecue for the public from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, at Wellspring Spa, 54922 Kernahan Road E., Ashford. The meeting is open to anyone interested in learning more about the community forest, including how to get involved. The Nisqually Community Forest recently completed its Phase I plan with two land purchases, bringing the forest to a total of 1,920 acres. The property is located between Gifford Pinchot National Forest and Elbe Hills State Forest, just above Ashford. The public is invited to learn more about the forest and comment on current plans. The Nisqually Community Forest includes extensive habitat for salmon and threatened wildlife and more than 3 miles of the Mount Tahoma Trails Association’s popular Copper Creek ski trail. The forest is being managed to provide forestry and tourism jobs, recreation, clean air and water as well as abundant wildlife habitat. TRAILS CONFERENCE

TURKEY SHOOT GOLF TOURNAMENT

Join America’s Credit Union (ACU) and the ACU Foundation for the 19th annual Turkey Shoot Golf Tournament starting at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the Eagles Pride Golf Course on Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM ).This tournament raises funds each year to help the troops and their families during the holidays.
