More than 100 anglers hit the water at Tanwax Lake last weekend for a fishing derby hosted by Rainbow RV Resort. The winner was Merrill-Lee Rasmussen of Eatonville , whose catch of a five-pound, nine-ounce rainbow trout earned the top prize of a trolling boat motor.
Dave Potter, the resort's owner. said anglers had better results from boats than the dock, trolling with wooly buggers or wedding rings with a worm.
Other top finishers, and their fish weights, were 4lb14oz by Brian Strain of Eatonville (four pounds 14 ounces), Mika Maakeed of Puyallup (four pounds 13 ounces), Adam Rosman of Puyallup (four pounds 10 ounces), and Sam McMahan of Spanaway (four pounds three ounces).
