Authorities want public's help solving robbery

The Pierce County Sheriff Department and Tacoma-Pierce County Crimestoppers are asking the public to help identify suspects in a strongarm robbery and assault. that occurred Dec. 21 at the Walmart store in South Hill. Tips can be made at 1-800-222-TIPS, and can be made anonymously. Authorities give this account of the crime: At 7:45 p.m., four unidentified suspects shoplifted electronic items from the store located at 16502 Meridian Ave. E. They concealed video games and drones, then exited the store without payment. One of the suspects, an adult male, then returned to the store, selected various items from the shelves and returned the stolen items. As he exited the store, he was contacted by employees and attempted to run out of the store, biting and strangling one of the employees. The suspects fled in a small black sedan. The man suspected of assaulting the store worker is described as black male and in his 20s, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds.-á He wore dark pants, a black jacket and a baseball hat. Crime Stoppers of Tacoma-Pierce County is a non-profit 501-¬3 organization dedicated to assisting law enforcement in solving crimes and locating wanted fugitives. Crime Stoppers works with the media to publicize unsolved crimes, takes anonymous tips from the public on unsolved crimes, distributes the tips to law enforcement for investigation, and pays cash rewards to tipsters whose information leads to an arrest and charges filed.
