Cruisers take Bair mat titles

Three Eatonville Cruisers won championships in the Jim Bair Classic high school wrestling tournament in Castle Rock last Saturday. Capturing titles in their respective weight classes were freshman Wyatt Schrader at 106 pounds, senior Tanner Frost at 138 pounds, and junior Derek Brown at 170 pounds. Casey Brady, an Eatonville senior, finished second at 120 pounds. Six teammates GÇô Taylor Curtis, Gage Olsen, Tanner Haugen, Robert Donelan, Gjori Nykreim and Zach Trujillo GÇô placed third or fourth. In the team results, Eatonville finished third behind champion Castle Rock and second-place Ilwaco. Eatonville coach Tom Martin said Schrader is the first Cruisers freshman to win a varsity tournament since January 2007, when Brandon Martin was a titleist in the Sumner Invitational. Schrader's tournament win is significant in another way, too GÇôhis father, Eatonville assistant coach Shawn Schrader, won the Jim Bair Classic's 122-pound title in 1990.
