First-time art and garden event supports food bank

By Diane Mettler Contributing writer Looking for a little art, a little flower and a little fun? Art in Bloom, to be held July 11 and 12, is a first-time garden event for Eatonville. It will be held at Founding Family Antiques on Lynch Creek Road, and all proceeds will benefit the Eatonville Family Agency food bank. This event is unique in that each day offers something completely different. o July 11 - Evening Garden Party. The event kicks off with an old-fashioned garden party at Sharon and Terry Van Eaton's home Friday evening at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $30 and attendees will enjoy live music, appetizers, wine tasting, and a live auction of art and vintage items - including a antique ice cream parlor seats and a cut flower stand built entirely from vintage materials. The best part is that the $30 doesn't just buy you an evening of entertainment, it will also help feed hungry people in the community. "Thirty dollars can go a long ways at the Family Agency,GÇ¥ says Lori Culver, the agency's executive director. "For example, that amount will pay for 110 milk cartons for hungry children.GÇ¥ Tickets are available at Founding Family Antiques, the Holly Hut, online at www.eatonvilleartinbloom.com and at 360-832-1745. o July 12 - Local art and vintage goods. On Saturday at 9 a.m., local artisans from Olympia to Tacoma will open their booths to the public, free of charge. Everyone is welcome to come by and browse and buy. Not only will there be paintings, ceramics, jewelry, furniture and a wide range of vintage items for sale - all with a garden flair - but there will also be live demonstrations, local honey, cut flowers, an art raffle, and a free vintage gift for everyone. "Of course, we want to raise money for the food bank,GÇ¥ says artist Chris Bivins. "But we also just want people to come by and have a good time.
