Harry C. "TinyGÇ¥ Youngberg was born in Duluth, Minn. Nov. 14, 1932 to Harry C. and Leona (Smith) Youngberg, and passed away after a short illness Dec. 26, 2013 at home in Shelton, WA. When his father was killed in 1944, he moved with his mother and three siblings to Friday Harbor, WA, where he graduated from high school while working at various jobs. He married Ruth Tuck and they moved to Houston, TX and began what was to become 40 years in the tire sales and service business. They moved to Tacoma, WA in 1956, and he helped his father-in-law and brother-in-law, Ed and Eddie Tuck, establish T & T Tire and then opened Tiny's Tire Center, where he enjoyed taking care of his customer's tire needs. Interspersed in his 81 years was a summer of commercial salmon fishing in southeastern Alaska; 26 years of ranching at his home in the Eatonville area; worked the real estate market; spent several years as a volunteer fireman and as an employee of Pierce County Fire District 15, all of which he enjoyed very much. He also enjoyed fishing, relaxing on Baja, traveling, was an avid reader, and played a good game of cribbage and pinochle. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of 63 years; his three daughters, Peggy Youngberg of Shelton, Gayle Skredsvig and Annette (Gordon) Cavanaugh of Tacoma; two granddaughters, Gabrielle and Marquee Cavanaugh; a sister, Phyllis Madan of Lynden, WA and brother Dr. C. Duane (Myrna) Youngberg of Woodbridge, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Herbert Youngberg. Tiny will be greatly missed by his loving family and a great many friends whom he loved. A "Celebration of LifeGÇ¥ is planned for Sunday January 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Firefighters Hall, 1109 S. 50th St., Tacoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tiny's name to your favorite charity.
