Highway in park closed for two days

Part of State Route 123 in Mount Rainier National Park will be closed next Monday and Tuesday while workers replace a culvert beneath the roadway.
The closure area will be from Cayuse Pass (the intersection with State Route 410) to just north of the Shriner Peak trailhead, approximately seven miles south of
the pass.
Barring weather delays, it's estimated that the closure will end at 5 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.
The culvert that's being replaced became unusable in 2009 after sections of it separated. Temporary culverts have been used since then, officials said.
During the temporary road closure, park visitors can access SR-123 from the park's southeast entrance via U.S. Highway 12 to reach the Shiner Peak trailhead.
