Cruisers roll into baseball playoffs

Eatonville High School’s baseball team will enter the post-season this weekend on the heels of two more victories– one of them a statement for a possible opponent in the 2A West Central District playoffs.
In games that helped decide seedings for the district (WCD) event, Eatonville extended its winning streak to 12 straight by beating River Ridge 12-2 May 1 and blanking White River 4-0 the next day.
The Cruisers may not be done facing White River. The teams could meet again May 6 in the first round of the WCD playoffs.
In games scheduled for Curtis High’s field in University Place, WR will meet Sequim in a first-round game. The winner will play later in the day against Eatonville, and the survivor of that contest will clinch a trip to the state regionals as no worse than the fourth-place team in the WCD.
The district’s top six finishers will advance to the regionals, so even if the Cruisers lose their first game, they can still finish fifth or sixth by winning out in the consolation bracket games on May 10 and May 13.
The regionals will start May 20.
