Christmas comes to town

Eatonville's annual Christmas parade will be staged Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m. Before that, kids and families can meet Santa and snack on cookies and cocoa at the town’s Visitor Center, where a tree-lighting also will be held shortly before the start of the parade on Mashell Avenue.

Proceeds from dinner support stroke victim

The Eatonville Eagles will host a fund-raising dinner Dec. 2.
Proceeds from spaghetti, salad and bread for $15 per plate, and from raffles, a silent auction and a dessert auction will support Amy Arnesen in her recovery from a stroke, said club member Erin McMicheal.
The dinner will start at 6 p.m., and "we will be serving past 7, so anyone who would like to come up" after the town's Christmas parade "is more than welcome," McMicheal said.

Stage production of 'Bah Humbug' starts Dec. 1

Roxy Theater Onstage’s production of "Bah Humbug! Scrooge’s Christmas Carol" will be presented Dec. 1 at 7 p.m., Dec. 2 at 2 p.m., Dec. 8 at 7 p.m., and Dec. 9 at 2 p.m.
The performances will be at Roxy Theater in Morton. Advance tickets ($9 adults, $5 children 12 and under) are available at mortonroxy.org and from BCJ Gallery at 360-496-0542. Ticket prices at the door will be $10 for adults and $5 for children.
The musical adaptation of the Christmas classic is based on the book by Rebecca Ryland and Bill Francoeur’s original music.

Free admission at Northwest Trek for Eatonville residents

Northwest Trek's annual free-admission day for Eatonville residents is scheduled for Dec. 3.
The event is held in recognition of the wildlife park's close ties with the nearby town. Eatonville residents will be admitted free with proof of residency (a current driver license or a utility bill with a 98328 zip code).
Northwest Trek is open from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. More information is available at www.nwtrek.org.

Fund-raiser for high school's Senior Surprise

A dinner and auction benefitting Eatonville High School's annual Senior Surprise will be held on Dec. 1 at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling Debbie Jumper at 253-677-8846.

Senior Surprise is an alternative graduation celebration that is sponsored by parents and independent of the school. It takes place in a drug and alcohol-free environment. At the end of the school year, the school's graduating class boards chartered busses for a 24-hour road trip to numerous surprise locations around the state and region.
"This is a long-standing tradition in our community and a great class-bonding experience that the seniors will never forget," Cole said.

Fantasy Lights is back for 23rd year of bright sights

Pierce County Parks and Recreation will present its 23rd annual Fantasy Lights at Spanaway Park Nov. 23 to Jan. 1.
Every night, including Christmas and New Year's Day, the largest lighted holiday drive-through show in the Northwest will feature nearly 300 displays illuminated by thousands of lights. Viewers taking a two-mile drive through the park will see bears fly kites, Santa and Rudolf sail a tall ship, snow boys kick field goals, penguins slide down an igloo, and reindeer leap over cars, to name a few. Car radios can be tuned to FM 95.3 for holiday music while inside the park.

30-plus vendors at Lacamas Holiday Bazaar

Lacamas Community Center's Holiday Bazaar is scheduled for Dec. 2-3.
Organizers said more than 30 vendors will be featured. The hours both days will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with breakfast served from 9 to 11 and lunch from 11 to 4.
The center is at 32113 Eighth Ave. S. in Roy.

Santa breakfast fund-raiser

Eatonville High School's band program will host a Santa breakfast fund-raiser Dec. 2 at the school, with holiday music and kids' arts and crafts accompanying the food from 8 a.m. to 12. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $7 for senior citizens (55-plus) and children 6 to 17 years old. Kids younger than 5 will be admitted free.
