SOCCER: District tourney next for Eatonville

In what also served as a tuneup for a run at a possible trip to the state tournament, Eatonville’s Cruisers battled undefeated Orting to a 2-2 tie Monday in their final match of the 2A South Puget Sound League regular season.
It was only the third time in 14 SPSL matches that Orting hasn’t won this fall. The Cardinals finished atop the Sound Division with an 11-0-3 record, followed by Steilacoom at 9-2-3 and Eatonville at 8-3-3 (8-5-4 counting non-league contests).
All three teams are in the district playoffs that will begin Oct. 28. In a loser-out match scheduled at Franklin Pierce High in Parkland, Eatonvlle will face Port Angeles at 4 p.m. The winner will advance to the next round against White River on Oct. 31 at 7 p.m., again at Franklin Pierce. A victory over White River would make Eatonville one of the five teams earning a district ticket to the state tournament.
