Shawn Armstrong makes Triple-A All Star Game

Tacoma Rainiers right-handed reliever Shawn Armstrong has been selected to represent the Pacific Coast League in the 2018 Triple-A All-Star Game, the league announced this morning.
Armstrong, 27, has made 29 appearances out of the Rainiers bullpen this season while posting a 1-2 record with five saves, a 2.34 ERA (9ERx34.2IP), and 47 strikeouts. He currently leads the club in appearances and saves and has limited opposing hitters to a .197 (25x127) batting average. Armstrong ranks third among PCL qualified relievers with a 12.20 strikeouts per nine innings pitched ratio, while also ranking tied for third on the circuit with seven holds. He has held opponents without an earned run in 21-of-29 appearances this year, and is currently on a run of six consecutive scoreless outings.
He was acquired by Seattle in a trade with the Cleveland Indians in exchange for international slot money on Dec. 13, 2017, and has spent the entire year with Tacoma. This is Armstrong's fifth career mid-season all-star selection, and his third career Triple-A All-Star Game appearance — he previously represented the Columbus Clippers with the International League in 2015 and 2016.
The 2018 Triple-A All-Star Game will be held on Wednesday, July 11 at Huntington Park in Columbus, OH. The game will be nationally broadcast on MLB Network.
