Softball opens season 1-1

The Lady Cruisers opened their softball season with a resounding 11-0 victory over Tenino behind the arm of Baley Porter.

The senior pitcher took the mound all four innings in the nonleague game, surrendering just two hits in the shutout while fanning six.

She was also one of the Lady Cruisers' most potent threats at the plate in her two appearances. Porter finished with two RBIs and two runs while hitting a double and being walked once.

Sophomore Brooklyn Lucht,  junior Mackenzie Waller and junior Madison Miller each scored twice as well.

Eatonville opened scoring with five runs in the first inning and two each in each subsequent inning of the matchup. Eight players finished with a hit.

The Lady Cruisers were walked nine times by Tenino's pitcher and struck out just four times.

Porter took to the mound again on Monday afternoon, but found a less forgiving opponent in the bats of the Elma Eagles.

The Lady Cruisers lost to Elma 12-1 in a game where the home team committed seven errors and registered just one hit, off the bat of junior Kaitlyn Rath.

Elma knocked in 11 hits, nine of which were surrendered by Porter. However only four of the 10 runs she gave up were earned thanks to the errors in fielding.

Eatonville faces Washington High School today, Wednesday March 14.
