Dick and Marge Duckett, formerly of Eatonville, WA, passed away peacefully at their home in Kent, WA within 9 months of each other. They had been married almost 57 years.

Dick was born in Seattle, WA, an only child of Roy and Gladys Duckett. He graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1950, joined the Air Force and served in the Korean War. Upon discharge he served 2 years in the National Guard.

Marge was born in Glendale, CA, the youngest of three daughters, to Elgin and Marjorie Pierce. She graduated from Eagle Rock High School and Glendale Jr. College. She worked for the Department of Defense in Japan, Germany and Morocco.

Their career paths eventually brought them both to Alaska where they met, married and had 2 children. In 1973 Dick transferred to Mt. Rainier National Park. He and Marge both worked for the park service living first in Ashford and eventually moving to Eatonville in 1992.

Dick enjoyed wine making, cooking, rock hunting, fishing, camping, skiing and canoeing. He was a member of the Tacoma Elks Lodge 174 and the All Rock Hounds Pow Wow Club. During his time in Alaska he was a member of the ski patrol, the volunteer police force and fire department and coached many youth sports teams.

Marge enjoyed nature – gardening (even weeding), camping, hiking, skiing and canoeing. She volunteered with the reading program at Eatonville Elementary for many years. She especially enjoyed having her grandchildren come visit.

They are survived by Dick’s son Jim (Lany); their children Norm (Cheryl) and Kathy (Jeff) Lytle; 8 grandchildren: Anthony and Joey Duckett, Ashleigh (Bobby) Bancroft, Brian and Regan Duckett, Cory (Jill), Andrew and Marisa Lytle; and 3 great grandchildren: Jameson Bancroft and Gregory and Elsie Lytle. Marge is also survived by sisters Rosemary Benson of Altadena, CA and Dorothy Bauer of Dana Point, CA.
