Alvie Royce Davis

Alvie Royce Davis passed away peacefully on Jan. 25, 2013 at the age of 84. Born in Denova, Colo., on Dec. 21, 1928, to Frank and Alice Davis, he resided in Lewis County for 78 years. Alvie attended grade school in Cinebar High School in Onalaska and college at Centralia College.
Alvie worked 70 years as a mechanic, first as a teenager on the family farm, then for General Motors, Ron's Auto, Widco and finally from his home shop. He was widely regarded as the best mechanic in Lewis County. His brother-in-law often said,"If Alvie can't fix it, it can't be fixed."
Alvie enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He is a member of Centralia Community Church of God, which he helped build. Alvie was always willing to lend a hand or help a person in need. His helpfulness and friendly, easygoing manner will be sorely missed.
Alvie is survived by his wife of 63 1/2 years, Ruby E. Norman Davis; as well as by his daughters, Kathleen Sather (son-in-law, Bill) of Monroe and Malia Kimbel of Centralia; sisters, Naomi Dow (Darrell), Mary Albright, Shirley Houston; brother, Clarence Davis (Virginia) and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Alvie's life will be held on Feb. 21, 2013 at Centralia Community Church of God on Borst Avenue, at 11a.m. with a potluck following.
