Bearcat Beat/So many ways to be involved

About a week a half ago, in laud of Veterans Day, MHS put together an assembly to honor local veterans. The assembly was beyond moving. In fact, many faculty members revered it as the best one yet.
In the assembly, choir and band performed, Sergeant Kenneth Dugger and Jessie Williamson (a Monroe High graduate from the class of 2007) both spoke to the student body regarding their experiences serving for our country. At the end of the assembly, the entire student body sang America the Beautiful. Great job to the ASB committee who planned the assembly! And thank you to all of those who have dedicated years of their lives to serve our country.
Last week at MHS, drama performed Ashland Falls. The audience got to vote to determine the end of the show! Cassie Engvall told her fellow students, "You'll laugh; you'll sigh; you'll jump. We've been working on this since the beginning of the school year and now we can hardly wait!GÇ¥ Drama Club worked long and hard so, on their behalf, thank you to everyone who went to support them.
Literary Analysis Squad (AKA Book Club), started by Bennett Rolfson this year, began last week. They will be meeting once a month on the second Monday. So don't worry, if you missed the meeting last week because you can catch up next meeting! Right now they are reading three books, and to stay informed you can talk to Bennett Rolfson, or text @catlibrary to (360) 320-6949.
French Club will be meeting Wednesday, Nov. 19 to watch Amelie. For those under 17, you must fill out a permission slip because the movie is rated R.
And last, Bearcat Buddies has started up and will be each Wednesday at Salem Woods Elementary or Fryelands Elementary from 3:30-4:30. High School students get to mentor and tutor 4th and 5th grade students. If you are still interested contact Brianna Celix or Kailee Billerbeck. Getting involved is important in high school; so find something you have a passion for and find or make a club that suits it!
Our fall sports have come to an end. Great job to cross country, football, girls' soccer, girls' swim, boys' tennis and volleyball! And our winter sports have officially begun as of this Monday!
This week there is a food drive through Nov. 21 and all of the food will go to our local food bank. It is a competition between grades so make sure to bring in some food!
As Thanksgiving nears, remember to appreciate those around you. Being involved in certain MHS clubs and events is definitely one way to do so.
