Donald James Ewert

Donald James Ewert, 61, of Rio Rico, Arizona, joined his loved ones in heaven on October 2. He died at his home of a heart attack.
Donald was born Oct. 20, 1952 in Wolf Point, Montana to Rev. Frank Henry Ewert and Lillie May Ewert. He was preceded in dead by his parents and brother, Darrel.
Don is survived by his wife, Kathy; his daughter, Jocelyn; son, Justin and pets, Bella, Diego, Carmella and Harley; his sister, Pauline; her husband, Art and six children and their spouses; his sister, Ruth her husband, Dick and five children and their spouses; his brother, Dave, his wife, Julia and one child and her spouse; his sister-in-law, Pam, her husband, Bob, and three daughters whom he loved as his own, Erica, Hannah and Alicia.
At the age of 20 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kathy Lora Schalo on July 21, 1973 in Startup, Washington. They started a family in Sultan, WA where he worked as a head sawyer at a local sawmill. In 1997, they moved to Camano Island, WA and had a house and shop near the ocean. During this time Don's art and writing continued to flourish and he was featured in several galleries in the Northwest. In 2004, they relocated to Rio Rico, Arizona to build a home, shop and garden in the desert.
Don was a kind and gentle man, loved by many. Talented, amazing, one-of-a-kind, artist, friend, father, lover, musician, writer and philosopher. He loved to work, give and create. He loved people, animals and words, and he REALLY loved rocks.
A celebration of life will be held on Oct 19 at 3 p.m. at 3603 122nd St. N.E., Marysville, WA 98271. Limited parking on street; please carpool from neighboring businesses if possible.
