Dorothy Ellen Hallstrom

We lost our beloved Dorothy Ellen Hallstrom on February 13. She passed quietly at home with family by her side at the age of 92. Dorothy was preceded into the afterlife by her husband, Carl, and son, Doug. She is survived by her daughter, Carol; grandchildren, Calvin, Jessica, and Zoe and great-grandchildren, Keagan, Blake, and Jack. Dorothy was a kind and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who logged countless hours of volunteer work at her church and the schools. Dorothy was a cherished member of the community and never had a bad word to say about anyone. A consummate example of The Greatest Generation, she was hardworking, practical, generous and mannerly. We all learned so much by the example of how she lived her life and deeply admire her strength and grace at the end of her life. We would like to thank the great folks at Regency Care Center in Monroe, Evergreen Health Hospice Care and Valley General Hospital for their warm, loving care. Dorothy loved you and I know you loved her. A special mention for Dr. Mark Raney of Sky Valley Family Medicine. Dr. Raney is our wonderful "country doctor" who cared for Dorothy and husband Carl for years. There will be a memorial for Dorothy in her birth month of May so the relatives from across the country can come. We survivors have a hole left in our hearts from her passing, but are comforted by the fact that she is with Carl and Doug and is free from pain. May the Good Lord keep her until we are reunited.
