Free lunch, fun, cooking tips at Frank Wagner

On Thursday, June 19, the Monroe Public Schools' free lunch included a healthy cooking demonstration by staff from Chartwells Food Service.
"With such an abundance of squash available we started with this pizza-flavored recipe that really appeals to kids,GÇ¥ said Chartwells Food Service manager Dana Daniel. Daniel also offered other tips to help youth to enjoy vegetables and plans more cooking demonstrations throughout the summer.
Her demonstration was part of Monroe Public Schools free lunch program at Frank Wagner Elementary every Monday through Friday at noon for youth up to age 18. The program will continue until August 15. It will be closed July 4.
No paperwork is necessary.
In addition, the Summer Star Club offers activities such as healthy cooking demonstrations for children starting at 12:30 p.m. The public-school sponsored club partners with local organizations including the Monroe Library and Monroe Boys and Girls Club to offer fun activities.
Families may check the online calendar of lunch menus and activities posted on the schools' website at www.monroe.wednet.edu.
There is always room for more activity partners. Please contact Chris Waltman at chriswaltman@outlook.com to discuss hosting an afternoon.
