Judy Kay Woods March 6, 1942 - July 27, 2016

Judy Kay Woods, beloved wife and mother, succumbed to illness on July 27, 2016. She drew her last breath at Evergreen Health in Kirkland, with her husband Larry "WoodyGÇ¥ Woods at her side. Judy was born on March 6, 1942 in Missoula, Montana, and grew up in nearby Laurel. At the age of 12 she moved to the state of Washington with her parents Ansel and Marjorie Pearson, her sister Colleen Vandelac and her brother Bob Pearson, after her father became employed at Boeing. Set up on a blind date, Judy and Woody met in Lynnwood and were married in Idaho on April 11, 1964, after a whirlwind romance. In 1976 the two settled in Monroe where they lived for 30 years before moving to Sultan. Judy was the proud mother of two children: Linda West, of Blacksburg, Virginia, and Steve Woods, of Monroe, Washington. Judy delighted in serving the Sultan community with her husband Woody and did so generously and cheerfully. She and Woody headed up the Sultan Lions Club for many years, and spent countless hours providing books, clothing and toiletries to underprivileged youth in Sultan, Gold Bar and Index. Her love for Sultan shined brightly in her weekly column, "Notes from the Valley,GÇ¥ which she penned for the Monroe Monitor & Valley News from 2013 through 2014. She was the happiest with her fingers in the dirt, creating and caring for colorful flowerbeds. She was well known for her quiet compassion, extraordinary strength and her great capacity for loving those around her. A celebration of life was held for Judy at the Cherry Hill Mobile Home Park on Sunday, July 31.
