Letter to the Editor | Bond would finance special programming options

Every Monroe school needs something. They don't all need the same thing, but they all need something.

That's what makes this bond a good fit for property owners and students. Voting yes will maintain the same tax rate while supplying the money schools need for important projects district wide. -á

My child is enrolled in the Montessori program at Maltby Elementary. This program started just three years ago and has already grown from one to three classrooms, with a waiting list. There are plans to add a fourth classroom next year. In an area where families have lots of school choices, it's great to see innovative programs being offered in our home school.

I'd like to see more innovative choices added to the offerings at Hidden River Middle School. The bond would fund the building of some specialized learning spaces, in addition to moving science and art classrooms from portables into the main building. More specialty program offerings will help more families choose to stay in Monroe schools. -á

Times have changed. Children don't have to go to their home school. They can choose the program that best fits their needs. In turn, schools need to provide programs that satisfy the changing needs of children. Offering specialty programs makes schools a better choice.-á

Let's vote to give our schools the funds they need to create innovative programs that will make families excited to choose Monroe!
