Skykomish students win awards, bikes

Skykomish School students celebrated their last day of the 2014 GÇô 2015 school year as they attended the annual end-of-year awards assembly.-á

Of the many awards given to students, the Principal's Award was given to three students for citizenship and a positive contribution to their school. The award winners were Savanah Grider (second grade), Kira Aman (seventh grade) and Anya McCullough (11th grade).

The Teacher of the Year was awarded to science and math teacher Kim McCullough.

Classified Employee of the year was awarded to paradeucator DeLana Slone.

The Bikes for Books program, sponsored by the Masonic Lodge, awards a new bike to three students who participated in the program. Students earn the opportunity for their name to be drawn by reading at home for 20 minutes each day. The bikes were provided by contributions from the Masonic Lodge and were presented by Masons John Mathers and Wally Watkins. Bicycle helmets were provided by King County Fire District No. 50.-á

The three winners of the Bikes for Books at Skykomish were Scarlet Rodriguez (kindergarten), Kayla Rodriguez (third grade) and Ethan Rodriguez (fifth grade).-á
