Tina de Vries Streutker

A gracious, loving, God-fearing woman, Tina died peacefully at Adagio Adult Family Home in Everett.-á She is survived by her five children - Steve (Irene, deceased), Sue (Paul) Ligon, Dan (Linda), Dorothy (Ray), and Joan (Dave) Thorson.-á Tina will also be mourned by her six grandchildren - Jennifer (Charlie) Rowe, David Streutker, Christian-á John "C.JGÇ¥-á Streutker, Travis Streutker, Kristina Thorson, and Daniel Thorson - and four great-grandchildren - Will, Abe, and Margaret Rowe, and Elliana Streutker. Tina was born in St. Nicolaasga, Friesland, the Netherlands. At the age of 1 1/2 she emigrated to the United States with her mother, Hendrikje, father, Reitze (Richard) and brother Aurelius (Rink). She was raised on dairy farms in the Snohomish and Snoqualmie valleys, graduating from Duvall High School in 1941 as salutatorian. Tina met Jerald Streutker (deceased, April 2014) of Oak Harbor at a church Young People's meeting in Everett in December of 1941.-á Their courtship survived a three year separation as Jerald was drafted into the U. S. Army and served in the Pacific.-á They married in 1946 and lived in Oak Harbor until 1948 when they moved to Monroe and started a car repair business (Valley Garage which became Valley Farm Equipment). Tina served as bookkeeper for the business for a time until the growing business and growing family provided her the opportunity to become a full-time mom.-á Tina and Jerald raised a family of five children while living in Monroe and the Tualco Valley. She was active in the Monroe Christian Reformed Church (now New Hope Fellowship). Tina loved gardening and later being a loving grandmother. After retirement, Tina and Jerald were able to travel, visiting relatives in Holland, grandkids in Indiana and Virginia and many stops along the way. A memorial service will be held at New Hope Fellowship, 1012 West Main Street, Monroe, on Saturday, January 17th at 1:00 PM.
