Eatonville council approves spending CARES funds

At its July 13 meeting, the Eatonville Town Council approved three resolutions related to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economics Security Act passed by Congress and signed by President Trump on March 27.

Resolution 2020-J authorizes the use of CARES funds to implement an emergency small business grant policy. Resolution 2020-K authorizes the use of funds to implement a utility assistance program. Resolution 2020-L authorizes the use of funds to implement a shop-local-and-save program.

Eatonville will spend approximately $60,000 for those measures.

Shelley Knick of the Eatonville Planning Commission also attended the meeting to introduce herself as part of an effort to improve communication and cooperation between the council and the planning commission.

“We have an essential relationship between these two committees, and not knowing each other seems to be a non-starter for us to be successful,” she said. “So, this is that first step.”
