Boys soccer

The Eatonville Cruiser boys soccer team got the season started this past Friday with a trip down south to Ilwaco, Washington, to take on the Ilwaco High School Fishermen.

Eatonville was outscored, 7-2, in the game, but first-year head coach Clint Tomyn saw a strong effort from his team.

"While only playing with two substitutes, it was a positive effort from the team,” he said. 'It was a very good showing for a rebuilding team.”

Sebastian Montes De Oca Molina scored the first goal of the season, and Josiah Goode followed with Eatonville's second goal. Keeper Leo Hunt made over eight saves for the Cruisers.

The Cruisers will try to rebound from that loss when they head to Tenino on Wednesday to take on the Beavers before finishing up the week in Elma against the Eagles. Both matches will kick off at 6 p.m.

Girls tennis

The Cruiser girls tennis team fell to the Vashon Pirates on Friday, 4-1, in front of their home crowd.

Senior Cassidy Foster won the only match for the Cruisers playing no. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-3. The team hopes to get on the winning track Wednesday when it travels to Buckley to take on the White River Hornets at 3:30 p.m.
