Pierce County Council ratifies sheriff employee agreement

At its Sept. 6 regular meeting, the Pierce County Council ratified a collective bargaining agreement with the Pierce County Deputy Sheriffs Independent Guild and confirmed the appointment of three new members to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee.

In the case of the former, the agreement with 37 Local No. 1889 Community Service Officers includes a general wage increase of 2.9 percent retroactively effective from Jan. 10, 2022.

The two-year contract – from Jan. 1, 2022, through Dec. 31, 2023 – also includes a general wage increase effective Jan. 9, 2023, that is equal to 90 percent of the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers increase reported in July 2022.

The three new Solid Waste Advisory Committee members are Dave Stookey, Josh Christy and Josh Metcalf.
