Outdoor concert at Ashford Park

Two musical groups will perform in the debut of the Mount Rainier Concert Series Sept. 12 at Ashford County Park. The show, organized by Mt. Rainier Visitors Association, is scheduled for 2 to 5 p.m. and is billed as family-friendly. The park has a natural grassy amphitheater with room for lawn chairs, blankets and dancing. Polly O'Keary and the Rhythm Method, a Seattle-based band, has won awards from the Washington Blues Society, including Female Vocalist of the Year, Song Writer of the Year, Entertainer of the Year and best new recording for 2015. Also performing will be Maia Santell and House Blend, a group from Tacoma that has been a mainstay on the regional live music scene. The performances are sponsored by Friends of the Upper Nisqually, the Port of Tacoma, and Randy Oxford Entertainment. "Our hope is to present a series of concerts with a variety of music and entertainment throughout the spring, summer and fall of 2016 and beyond," said Pam Painter, director of the visitors association.
