Monroe School District seeks District No. 1 board director candidates

The Monroe School District Board of Directors is seeking candidates to fill a vacant position in the District No. 1 seat.

Applicants must reside in  District No. 1, be a registered voter in that district and a U.S. citizen, according to a district news release.

The District No. 1 boundary begins at the intersection of U.S. Highway 2 and Woods Creek Road, north and northeasterly on Woods Creek Road to Wagner Road, north on Wagner Road to 132nd Street Southeast, east on 132nd Street Southeast to 227th Avenue Southeast, north on 227th Avenue Southeast to the pipeline just north of Pipeline Road, and easterly from the pipeline to Woods Creek Road.

Applications are available here, and must be received or postmarked by Monday, July 9.

Completed applications can be emailed to MSD superintendent Fredrika Smith at smithf@monroe.wednet.edu, or mailed to Monroe School District, 200 E. Fremont St., Monroe, WA, 98272.

The District No. 1 seat had been held by Jason Hutchinson for more than four years, but he stepped down at the end of May to pursue a business ownership opportunity in his hometown of Walla Walla.
