32-year-old school record falls

Daisey Newman of Eatonville won the girls' shot put and broke a 32-year-old school record in the process during a high school track and field jamboree at Emerald Ridge High School. Newman's mark of 41 feet and 1.25 inches shattered the previous Eatonville record of 39 feet 4.75 inches set in 1983 by Heidi Rasmussen. Bethel, Puyallup and Emerald Ridge were the other schools competing in the non-scoring meet. In addition to Newman, who also won the discus with an effort of 101 feet 10 inches, event winners for Eatonville included Brailee VandenBoom in the 200-meter spring (27.08 seconds) and Samantha Swartout in the javelin (94 feet 4 inches), and among the Cruisers' boys, Josehia Hotz in the 400 (54.16), Justin Kaelin in the shot put (52 feet 2 inches), Ryan Antonson in the javelin (150 feet 11 inches), Wyatt Layman in the high jump (5 feet 10 inches), Logan Moose in the high jump (5 feet 10 inches), and Zarak Scruggs in the triple jump (38 feet 4.5 inches).
