By Pat Jenkins The Dispatch In the 5th Avenue Theatre's rolllicking production of "Anything Goes," what goes the most is the unending laughter and good vibes for audiences lucky enough to enjoy this Cole Porter classic. It's like watching a party you'd love to be part of, and in fact you are. The show is enthralling, hilarious and entertaining from the opening scene to the final curtain. Porter's songs, which continue to stand the test of time ("I Get a Kick Out of You," "You're the Top," "Easy to Love," "It's De-lovely"), are one of the main reasons, of course. The witty, never-a-dull-moment story and dialogue are another. And there's the starpower of Rachel York. Her singing, dancing and impeccable one-liners in the lead role of Reno Sweeney are the definition of a performer who owns the part and the stage. The performance Oct. 17 was simply a blast, and it's hard to imagine anything less for the shows that follow through Nov. 3. The 5th Avenue has a well-deserved reputation for top-flight theater. "Anything Goes" is setting the bar higher still.
