The recommendations of the Secondary School Boundary Committee will be offered for feedback from families Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Clover Creek Elementary School and Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Liberty Middle School. Committee members will be on hand to explain the proposal, and maps showing current and proposed boundaries will be available forreview.
Written comments will be accepted at the forums and can also be mailed to the district at 516 176th St. E., Spanaway, WA 98387-8399.
The Bethel School Board will invite comments at its meetings on Nov. 20 and Dec. 11 before finalizing the boundary adjustments. If approved, the changes would take effect at the start of the 2013-14 school year next September.
The committee, a representative group of community members, worked with district officials on the possible changes in middle and high school attendance areas. The project addressed issues related to growth in student population and the move of ninth-graders into high schools this year and sixth graders into middle schools effective with the 2013-14 school year.
