A body found Monday on Mount Rainier is that of a California man who didn't return from a climb and camping excursion in January and was presumed to have died in an intense winter storm.
The Pierce County medical examiner identified the body yas Mark Vucich, 37, of Agoura Hills, Calif.
Vucich and Michelle Trojanowski, 30, of Atlanta, Ga. were planning to camp on the Muir Snowfield for two days and return on Jan. 15. Searches, hampered by high wind and white-out conditions, were called off after failing to turn up any sign of them. Trojanowski remains missing and is presumed by authorities to be dead.
Vucich was discovered by a group of climbers after his body was revealed by melting snow.
