A burn ban for most of Pierce County has been lifted. The ban, brought on by stagnant weather and rising air pollution, was ordered Nov. 26 and removed Dec. 1 by the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency. Restrictions under the Stage 2 ban included no use of wood-burning fireplaces, uncertified wood stoves or fireplace inserts. Outdoor burning also was prohibited. Eatonville, Roy and the Ashford area weren't included in the ban.
