Cashmere ends Cruisers' tourney hopes

Eatonville's bid to reach the state 1A high school girls basketball tournament ended Saturday with a 59-36 loss to Cashmere. With the victory, Cashmere, now 25-0, became part of the eight-team field for the tourney this week in Yakima. Eatonville's 2013-14 season is over. Cashmere entered Saturday's regional playoffs contest in Wenatchee as the heavy favorite, having won all 24 of its previous games this season. The Bulldogs led 18-11 after the first quarter and kept building their lead, eventually breaking the game open by outscoring Eatonville 16-6 in the third period. The Cruisers, who finished with a 16-8 record, were led in scoring by Heidi Brankline (16 points). Breanne Knishka scored a game-high 25 points for Cashmere.
