Charlene Mae Summers

Charlene Mae Summers, 69 YOA, died on November 19th with her beloved dachshund Mini by her side. She was born on September 24th, 1946 in Tacoma, WA to parents Leslie (Pete) and Armis Walters. She remained very close with her mom Armis, and siblings, Sharon Robinson, Linda Hostetter, and Gordon and Wayne Walters, up until the time of her death. She was rarely seen without her dearest and closest friend Sherry Grout. Charlene married Terry W. Summers (of Yelm, WA) in 1962 and they raised two children, LaDonna and Shannon Summers in Eatonville WA. Her life's work, pride and joy was breeding and raising her championship warmblood horses at Summervale Farm. A self taught breeder and farmer, her awards and achievements are too numerous to mention but her crowning achievement was her beautiful stallion H.S. Wistar who won numerous Dressage championships. Prior to becoming involved in the horse industry she bred, raised and showed registered Guernsey cows. She loved her chickens and her dachshunds, and hanging on her front door is a sign that says, "Love is being owned by a dachshundGÇ¥. Her life was dedicated to her devotion of animals. Charlene loved spending time with family and friends, and especially enjoyed her weekly movie day with her mom, sisters and best friend. She was always excited for the holiday's and was often heard saying Merry Kiss-Moose to the kids. She cherished her grandchildren, Beau and Julianne Figliola, Zack and Casey Summers and daughter-in-law Lauren Figliola. She was eagerly looking forward to spending Christmas with her two great-grandsons, six year old Madden Figliola and one and a half year old Benjamin Figliola. She is preceded in death by her father Pete. RIP mom, aka horsey grandma and chicken grandma, we know that you are no longer in pain and can celebrate the holidays with us from a more peaceful place with all of your precious animals who have gone before you by your side. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Charlene's name for the first ever "Charlene Summers Memorial Breeder of the YearGÇ¥ award.
