As part of the PALS (People and Animals Learning at School) program at Eatonville Elementary School near the end of the 2015-16 school year, Lola Gillespie brought some slithery critters to share GÇô the lizard in her hand and a ball python curled around her neck. Teacher Cate Ivers said the involvement of animals helps get students interested in reading. Along with reptiles, the June 8 classroom guests from the animal kingdom included dogs, a rabbit, a hedgehog and a guinea pig. (Photo by Jim Bryant/The Dispatch)
