The Pierce County Council will hold a meeting next week in Eatonville as part of what council members call an effort to make government more accessible to more people. The council, which normally convenes each Tuesday in the County-City Building in downtown Tacoma, temporarily moves its meeting place each year to a location in each of the seven council districts. District 3, whose council member is Jim McCune, includes Eatonville, Graham and other parts of south Pierce County. That district's meeting is scheduled for Sept. 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Eatonville Community Center, which is located at 305 Center St. W. Such meetings are required by the county charter, a constitution-like document that outlines the county's home rule form of government. A mandatory review of the charter every 10 years will take place next year, following the election this November of 21 members of the Charter Review Commission. Information on other council meetings is available at piercecountywa.org/council.
