County's homeless survey Jan. 23-24

The Tacoma-Pierce County Coalition to End Homelessness is recruiting for 100 volunteers to conduct the county's annual survey of homeless populations on Jan. 23-24. Data from the survey provides a picture of local homeless issues and leverages public and private funding for homeless housing and services, said Charlene Hamblen, chairwoman of the Coalition to End Homelessness. Local agencies with homeless assistance include Bethel School District, which helps families with students. Volunteers can sign up by calling Rae Anne Giron at the county's Community Connections at (253) 798-6931. Training sessions for volunteers are scheduled for Jan. 13, 15 and 17 in Tacoma.
