Couple die in murder-suicide

An elderly Spanaway couple died in an apparent murder-suicide, the Pierce County Sheriff Department reported. The bodies of a 75-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman were found Friday at 11:10 a.m. in the 2200 block of 145th Street East by deputies who responded to a 9-1-1 call. Detectives who also went to scene are treating the incident as a homicide-suicide, said Ed Troyer, a Sheriff Department spokesman. A gun was found at the scene, and it's believed the man shot the woman before killing himself, Troyer said. The female reportedly was suffering from Alzheimers or some other form of dementia, investigators said.
