The annual 9-11 Day of Service in Eatonville is scheduled for Sept. 12, as community members will volunteer in service projects around town. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. in front of Eatonville High School. After an opening ceremony at 9, participants will break into groups to complete their assigned tasks to help beautify the community. Materials for the projects will be provided. But anyone with gardening tools is asked by organizers to bring their own rakes, shovels, grass clippers, line trimmers, push brooms, wheelbarrows, work gloves and lopper shears, as well as small gardening tools for weeding. Additional information is available from Cyndy Ames, the event's coordinator, at cames9112015@gmail.com. A free spaghetti luncheon will be provided for volunteers at United Methodist Church. Ames said the Day of Service is in remembrance of the victims of the 9-11 terrorist attacks and also in appreciation for military members.
