A fire that started Friday afternoon while fuel was being drained from an airplane inside a hangar at Swanson Field in Eatonville destroyed the building and the aircraft. There were no injuries, according to Eatonville Police Chief Jason McGuire, but the building later was declared a total loss along with the airplane, a second aircraft and two automobiles that were in the building. McGuire said the owner of the plane escaped when the fire started. A nearby resident called 9-1-1. Onlookers were kept at a distance because of the potential of explosions in the fire. Thick, black smoke rose from the blaze while firefighters were extinguishing it.
