Graham-Kapowsin's goal of a state 4A high school football championship is still very much alive after a systematic 27-7 dismantling of Wenatchee last Friday in the tournament quarterfinals. The Eagles move on to the semifinals next Saturday in eastern Washington against the winner of a game that will be played in that region Saturday betwen Chewelah and Gonzaga Prep. Playing on their home field on a cold, blustery night, the Eagles' vaunted running attack and staunch defense kept Wenatchee at bay and never seemed to allow the outcome to be in doubt, especially once G-K built a two-touchdown lead in the first half and led by at least that much the rest of the way. All four of the Eagles' touchdowns were on runs, three of them by Shannon Edwards. The fourth was by Danny Lorenz, who also had some important moments on defense. Graham-Kapowsin has won 10 games in a row and has an 11-1 record. Wenatchee ended its season with a 9-3 mark. (Read more in the Nov. 26 print edition of The Dispatch)
