A group of dancers 6 to 18 years old who train and take classes at Eatonville Dance Center performed at Disney World in Orlando, Fla. in mid-April, culminating six months of preparations. They were invited after submitting an audition video last August, said Justine Reed (center), director of the dance center. At Disney World, the 12 girls performed on an outdoor stage before a large audience, staged a flash mob routine in front of hundreds of people, and sampled the theme park's attractions and participated in charters. Reed said their "hard work and dedicationGÇ¥ resulted in "a great timeGÇ¥ during the "once in a lifetime opportunity.GÇ¥ According to Disney World, dance groups, choirs, ensembles and marching bands from around the world apply each year to perform as part of Disney Performing Arts at Disneyland and the Disney empire's world resorts. In the 25-year history of the program, millions of performers have graced the stages of the Disney parks, a spokeswoman said. In addition to performance opportunities, Disney Performing Arts offers workshops taught by Disney professionals, a Disney-produced music festival in which school groups compete on select weekends from March through May, and Disney Honors and Disney Jazz Celebration, which high school musicians from across the nation.
