Graddy helps PLU scale soccer heights

Pacific Lutheran University's women's soccer team earned the program's most first-team honors since 1992 when four players GÇô one of them a former all-state high school star from Eatonville GÇô were named to the All-Northwest Conference lineup for 2015. Juniors Takara Mitsui and Kelly White repeated their 2014 first-team honors, while sophomores Machaela Graddy, formerly of Eatonville High, and Hailey Smoot joined their teammates as first-time all-conference selections. A fifth Lute, sophomore Taylor Lunde, received second-team All-Northwest recognition. Only conference champion Puget Sound had as many all-conference picks overall. Graddy scored 10 goals to lead Pacific Lutheran during the 2015 campaign. She led the conference in goals for much of the season before finishing third, and her 24 total points also ranked third. In September, she was a conference Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week and had multi-goal efforts in PLU's victories over California Lutheran and Whitman. And by the end of the season, she had three game-winning goals and started every match. The Lutes' second-place finish in the conference (with an 11-3-2 record, 15-3-2 overall) left them out of the NCAA Division III national tournament. The 15 victories were the most for PLU since 1992.
