Results of the primary election became official last week, confirming voters' rejection of a Graham Fire and Rescue levy. In results that were certified Aug. 19 by the Pierce County auditor, the four-year maintenance and operations levy received a 58.4 percent yes vote, which was short of the mandatory 60 percent for it to pass. The fire district's commissioners have decided to submit the measure to voters again in the general election in November. In a countywide race for District Court judge, Karl Williams eked out a second-place finish and will face Jeanette Lineberry in the general election. Williams finished 448 votes ahead of Sandy Allen in the three-way primary contest. The gap between Williamsm and Allen was too close in early returns for either candidate to be certain of the final outcome. The results of other races on the primary ballot were remained unchanged between the early and final results. Ballots will be mailed to voters in October for the general election, which ends Nov. 4.
