For the second time this month, a portion of State Route 7 that's getting a slide-proofing facelift will be open GÇô but only temporarily GÇô to help with heavier-than-usual traffic. The five-mile section of State Route 7 between Alder and La Grande will be open beginning at 6 a.m. this Friday and 6 a.m. next Tuesday to accommodate increased traffic volumes that are expected over the Labor Day holiday weekend, said state Department of Transportation (DOT) officials Similarly, the highway was reopened Aug. 8-13 to motorists a break on their way and from the Loggers Jubilee in Morton.
