Homan had positive impact on schools, community

Robert (Bob) Homan gracefully stepped down from the Eatonville School Board after this past month after having dedicated over 10 years of service to the Eatonville School District. The issues and decisions he faced during his tenure as both School Board Director and president of the board were and remain challenging and complex. Bob's primary goal was to do what was best for students and to improve the quality of education our children are receiving today. He was never satisfied with the status quo. Bob always looked for new and innovative ways to challenge the students and provide them opportunities to meet their future goals while they were in our schools. Bob was instrumental in the hiring of our new dynamic school superintendent Krestin Bahr and her predecessor. He was a leader in modernizing all the district schools, resulting in improved efficiencies and safety in the buildings through the bond fund, as well as numerous operating levies. He worked with the Legislature on securing statewide funding for basic education and various academic law and policy issues. Eatonville School District's students are now well on the path to success due to the outstanding efforts of our administrators, teachers and all the valuable support staff. These district employees, along with the School Board Directors and Bob, care about our students. We owe a debt of gratitude to Bob's wife Mary and children Cameron and Abbey while he spent countless hours away from home in meetings or in school volunteering. Please join me in thanking Bob when you see him around town for his positive contributions to improve our community and its future citizens of tomorrow GÇô our students. Roger Andrascik Eatonville School Director
